Four Reasons to Take Up Tennis

Sandeep Jeereddy, data scientist at BMW, works hard each day with both the technical and business management aspects of his position. In his free time, Sandeep Jeereddy enjoys playing tennis. While many people see sports as being competitive and good for exercise, there are other benefits. Here are four reasons why tennis is a great choice.

1. Learn skills to succeed in life. Tennis isn't simply about hitting the ball over the net. There is a need to be strategic, and to learn a multitude of different skills for different situations. Tennis is a thinking game, and can help broaden the mind.

2. Improving health. While many sports improve physical strength and stamina, tennis requires other skills as well, such as agility, coordination and speed. While not a contact sport, demand on the body is still high, and can truly keep a person in peak physical and mental shape. It's also good for anger management.

3. Tennis is a social sport. While sports often pit you against others, tennis is a great way to make new connections with those on the same level, as well playing in tournaments together and networking off the court. Also, courts are everywhere, and with every court comes the chance of new friends.

4. There is no off-season. While some sports simply can't be played in the winter months, tennis courts are available both indoors and out. No matter when the urge strikes, there will always be a place to play.

For those looking to take up a sport, tennis has a range of offerings that can help strengthen and empower both body and mind.
